Flanimals - Did someone call for a Mungefuddler?: Ricky Gervais’s Flanimals children’s books are to be made into an animated Hollywood movie. The comic will voice the lead character, the Puddloflaj, a spherical purple creature on a mission to change the world. He said: ‘It will be great to play a short, fat, sweaty loser for a change. A real stretch.’
The script will be written by Matt Selman, who has previously worked on The Simpsons, and be produced by Chris Meledandri, who also produced The Simpsons Movie and Ice Age.
If you aren’t familiar with Flanimals, here are a couple of gems:
Coddleflop – a mushy puddle with eyes
Offledermis – a Flanimal born inside-out to avoid its own smell
Munge Fuddler – a crab-like Flanimal that ‘fuddles’ everything it sees
Jim Davidson - Hanging out to dry?: Making a return to TV following his ill fated ’shirt-lifter’ remarks on Hell’s Kitchen. Jim Davidson’s one-off reality show ‘So You Think I’m An A***hole’, is coming to Virgin 1. Davidson will meet a number of famous gay, black and female mentors who will challenge his material and try to change his views. The show climaxes with a performance in Dubai, will he have taken any comments on board regarding his material? The results remain to be seen, can a leopard change his spots?

Scandal, intrigue and jokes…they often go hand in hand with live stand-up comedy. It’s no surprise then that the biggest comedians sometimes have a little scandal surrounding them and perhaps a touch of comic irony. Take comedian Jason Manford, despite quitting The One Show amongst allegations of flirting by mobile phone on Twitter, The Mobile Phone Awards have booked the top TV comedian to present their 2011 awards ceremony. There’s no doubting the popular comedian’s likeability and popularity however, with the English stand-up adding more dates to his 2011 tour. In other comedy industry news, Little Britain comedian and star Matt Lucas has won substantial damages of an undisclosed sum for a ‘grossly intrusive’ article run by The Daily Mail into his ex-partners death. The article ran 6 months after Kevin’s and seemingly came out of the blue, The Daily Mail has since acknowledged some intrusive allegations as untrue and damaging.
