The Warwick - Smash Hit Opening Night

As the new principle regular central London Comedy Club Venue, The Warwick had prying eyes glued to the show. Yet as with all Comedy Club events, the best acts on the circuit helped fill the opening night with laughter as many other opening nights could only dream of.
Matt Welcome recalls “Padraig (Hyland) did a really great job of compering and getting everyone in the audiences full attention so they formed a single really good comedy crowd, and secondly because the two guys you sent down Martyn and Andy.
They did a really professional job, looked after us acts, cared about the layout of the room, were really polite to us and all the customers and staff, and were both clearly professional and into enjoying the business of making a comedy night work.
So thanks v much for the gig - that room is small and quirky but with a good compare it works in a really personal and friendly way that the customers will find great, and it is literally in the heart of the best city in the world for comedy (acts + audience)”.

Comedian Booking Review: Bob Mills for Credit Suisse
“It wasn’t until I sat down with Bob when he arrived on Saturday and chatted that we both realised how long ago it was that I saw him on the London circuit (on more than one occasion I might add). It is testament to the impression he leaves on you that I still remembered him…it was in fact around 1991 ish !! It was truly a treat to have him come along and spend a small part of the afternoon with us. A lot of the guys remembered him from TV and also recently from radio 5 slots so the level of expectancy was indeed big before he even started! I obviously was concerned that it may have been a while since I saw him and that he may not have been as funny as I remembered him - but he did not disappoint in the slightest and dealt with some of my more drunk heckling friends with razor like wit and sarcasm…..he still has his great timing and has what all good comics have and that is the ability to work an audience out very very quickly and win them over very confidently. Yes we are spoilt these days with comedy talent and the likes of Michael McIntyre but for real genuine lovers of comedy you can’t go far wrong than spend some time with the legend from the village of Bow.
Please pass this and our best on to Bob - I will be trying my best to catch one of his live shows very soon .

“Firstly the feed back was very positive , a lot of locals said how good it was to to have an excuse to come out mid week and be able to sit in a restaurant environment and enjoy good comedy
Many people asked when would we be doing it again and I would be very confident of at least a repeat of the attendance.
The comedians and the comedy was all the more enjoyable because the bad language was kept to a minimum , this is certainly in keeping with our regular clientelel”

Comedian Booking Review: Rod Laver for Brentford FC
Thanks to everyone at The Comedy Club, the event was a great success.
We thought that Rod Laver was excellent – he didn’t have the easiest task as he was at ‘Ground Level’ in the middle of more than 400 people so not everyone could see him – particularly as his act is obviously very visual - but he was very warmly received and really professional on the night as we were running over and he had to sit around for quite a while!

The Fling - Sell Out Success in Essex

The Fling is a sellout success

TICKETS for Chelmsford’s Fling were sold out.
On Saturday in Central Park the adults only festival returned with seven main performance venues offering a selection of tantalising treats including music, cabaret, comedy, silent disco, dance and poetry alongside participatory activities such as adult storytelling, body painting, mask making, massage and the festival’s very own beach, complete with real palm trees.
John Hegley launched proceedings at the Wordsmiths Stage followed by a medley of fellow poets, National laughter makers The Comedy Club based in Chelmsford hosted their own stage and brought along stars of the comedy circuit. The Exotic Dance Tent returned next to the beach this year with a mixture of performances, workshops and chances to freestyle with newly mastered dance steps.

The festival also included a charity casino which raised over £450 for the Chelmsford mayoris charities, short films presented by The White Bus, a spoof fortune teller and a selection of other side shows.
Another addition to the The Fling was Quercus Mettallicus, a beautifully sculpted metal tree built by local artist Dan Peppiatt who used copper piping, recycled where possible, and added household water outlets which surprised and cooled passers by with short showers of water and later lit the area with sudden bursts of fire.
The council’s cabinet member for leisure and culture Ray Ride who attended the event said: “In its second year, The Fling welcomed three times more visitors than the previous year and even sold out on the evening.
“I was completely engaged by the collage of events aimed at the over 18s including salsa dancing, yoga, poetry, cabaret and bands and was glad to see so many people enjoying themselves at this full capacity event.”
